Mushroom Burger with Halloumi Cheese Recipe

Vegetarian Breakfast Burger anyone?

This Mushroom Burger with Haloumi Cheese recipe is a great meat-free Vegetarian breakfast burger option. Instead of using Bacon replace with delicious protein-rich Mushrooms. 

The ingredients can be changed to reflect what is seasonally available. Try using a sourdough bread roll to add flavour. Switch it up by using a small roll or a couple of slices of Turkish bread to make them into Sliders.

Burger bun

2 large mushrooms

Butter (olive oil for Vegan option)

Halloumi cheese (Tofu Halloumi recipe or “Vegan Halloumi” from a local store for vegan option)

Mashed Avocado

Salad ingredients

Pickled vegetables such as beetroot

Sauce such as thousand Island Dressings

 

 

1. Toast the bun

2. Fry the 2 large mushrooms on a pan with a little salt and pepper and some butter (substitute olive oil for vegan)

3. Fry slice of Halloumi cheese (Tofu Halloumi recipe or “Vegan Halloumi” from a local store for vegan option)

4. Spread Avocado mash on the toasted bun, followed by the salad ingredients. Add some salad dressing or sauce and pickles.

5. Plate up – Place the mushrooms on top and then the Haloumi cheese. Put the top of the bun on and hold it in place with a toothpick.
